Class Description

Let’s get right down to the real nitty gritty! In 1964, American dancer and actor Robert “Bobby” Banas performed a routine to Shirley Ellis’s song “The Nitty Gritty” on *The Judy Garland Show* alongside five other dancers. In the 2010s, Banas’s routine was rediscovered thanks to YouTube. Today, swing dancers also perform the “Nitty Gritty” at festivals like Rock that Swing in Munich. The routine (taught in the version by Stephen and Chanzie) is energetic, fun, and quick to learn. Anyone who wants to can then perform it live at a LiveTanzBar.
