We are enthusiastic swing dancers who have joined forces in the Dresden-Hepcats e.V. association. Since 2006, we have been passionately committed to promoting swing dancing in the Dresden swing community.

Since 2006, we have been passionately committed to promoting swing dancing in the Dresden swing community. We offer courses and workshops for various swing dances (e.g. Lindy Hop, Balboa, Charleston, Shag and Solo Jazz). Our dance events (socials) regularly bring dancers together in the local swing scene. We are proud that our activities are made possible by the voluntary commitment of our members.

You can discover dancing alone or with a partner, practise moving to the rhythm of the music with us and develop your improvisation skills. We want to treat each other well in order to create a safe environment for everyone. Clear communication is the basis for treating each other with respect and feeling comfortable with one another. We encourage open and friendly communication, which can be initiated by anyone. Requests can only be fulfilled if they are made visible: if you want to dance, feel free to take the initiative. If you do not want to dance, express this respectfully. If you need more space, let us know.
It is not always easy to find the right words to express your needs and wishes. To help you feel comfortable dancing during our events and classes, you could say, for example:
- “Can we please dance in an open position?"
- "Please use less force when turning."
If you find it difficult to express yourself, the Hepcats team and the teachers on the class can support you if necessary.
Every person has the right to say no at any time and for any reason. A no must be respected at all times. If you are unsure or have difficulty hearing and dealing with a no, you can ask a trusted person in the club for advice and help. Please do not make critical comments while dancing – unless you have been asked to do so or something has caused you pain.

In the event of an incident, please inform the course instructors or contact person for the respective event. In confidential discussions, solutions and improved behaviour can be discussed and other support offered to overcome the situation.
When dancing, be aware of your surroundings to avoid accidental kicks and collisions. If this does happen, apologise to the person affected and ask if everything is okay.
We reserve the right to exclude people from our events and courses, as our goal is to create a safe, pleasant and welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
