Collegiate Shag is a lively and energetic swing dance of African American origin, which originated in the 1920s and 1930s and is danced at a rather fast tempo. Shag is another word for dance – as the name suggests, Collegiate Shag was mainly danced by college students. Today, the dance is enjoying a resurgence in popularity on the international swing dance scene, and we want to help spread the word!

No prerequisites, suitable for everyone (open level).
Collegiate Shag - Next Level
You have already taken a collegiate shag class. You feel comfortable with the basic step and know the first basic figures.
It is only possible for members of the Dresden Hepcats to register individually (1 person = 1 registration). We aim to achieve a balanced ratio of leads and follows in the workshop. Therefore, there is a quota for lead, follow, and switch places. Once the role limit has been reached, it is no longer possible to register for that role.
Please bring a change of shoes with light-colored soles or socks for dancing. Since shag can be quite fast-paced and athletic, please also remember to bring a change of clothes, a towel, and something to drink.
