LiveTanzBar 09 | 2026 - Micha Winklers Hot Jazz Band

The LiveTanzBar is a live band social event organised by the Dresden Hepcats. Once a month, at the start of the month, regional swing bands perform here. The line-up ranges from big bands (e.g. NTSO) to small but excellent jazz ensembles (e.g. Blue Alley Jazz Band).

The LiveTanzBar stands out not only for the experience of live swing music in a ballroom atmosphere, but also for its high profile within Dresden’s swing dance community, making the evening a great opportunity to meet and get to know other swing dancers – and, of course, to DANCE!

Before the live band starts, our dance teachers will show you a few basics of swing dancing from 8.00 pm, making the evening perfect for newcomers or beginners to dip their toes in and experience ‘swing dancing’ for themselves.

Micha Winkler’s Hot Jazz Band

Full of energy and a joy for playing, the band celebrates the old-time jazz of the 1920s and 1930s. From the roots of New Orleans jazz through to Louis Armstrong and Fats Waller, the musicians professionally and authentically bring this sound into the present day, creating a contagious zest for life! You can experience Micha Winkler’s Hot Jazz in various line-ups, from a trio to a septet, as a marching band or in a concert setting, on and off stage.

Admission to LiveTanzBar

As usual, admission to LiveTanzBar is free for club members (voluntary cultural contribution welcome). Non-members pay €15 admission (reduced rate €5) at the door.

The making of audio and/or video recordings during events or lessons requires the express consent of the dance teachers. The publication of audio and/or video recordings from the classes is the sole responsibility of the organiser, Dresden-Hepcats e.V.
