LiveTanzBar 11 | 2025 - Monsieur Pompadour

The LiveTanzBar is a live band social event organized by the Dresden Hepcats at the Parkhotel in Weißer Hirsch. Regional swing bands perform here once a month at the beginning of the month. The spectrum ranges from big bands (e.g., NTSO) to small but fine jazz combos (e.g., Blue Alley Jazz Band).

The LiveTanzBar not only shines with its live swing music in a ballroom atmosphere, but also with its high profile in the Dresden swing dance community, making the evening a great opportunity to meet swing dancers, get to know them, and of course, DANCE!

Before the live band starts, our dance teachers will show you a few basics of swing dancing from 8 p.m., making the evening perfect for newcomers or beginners to get a taste of the “swing dancing” experience.

Monsieur Pompadour

In the summer of 2014, French bohemian Monsieur Pompadour found himself in Berlin. The illustrious circle of his lavish parties included a Belgian singer, a Hungarian violinist, an extremely taciturn bassist, and an aristocratic guitar virtuoso. They formed a band and have been captivating audiences ever since with their unique blend of cheerful swing, ambitious wildness, and a pinch of melancholy. Songs and chansons about life and love, sung in four-part harmony and interpreted in the style of their idols Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli. To mark their debut, Monsieur Pompadour bestowed upon them the honor of his melodious name and then disappeared as a stowaway on a luxury steamer.

Admission to LiveTanzBar

As usual, admission to LiveTanzBar is free for club members (voluntary cultural contribution possible). Non-members pay €15 admission (reduced rate €12) at the door.

The production of audio and/or video recordings during events or lessons requires the express consent of the dance teachers. The publication of audio and/or video recordings from the lessons is the sole responsibility of the organizer Dresden-Hepcats e.V. By participating in an event, participants agree to the use and publication of photo and video recordings that may show the respective participant.
